Sensory Processing is the way that the brain and nervous system takes in stimulus and messages from the outside world (sound, sight, touch, taste and smell) and our inner being through interoception (thoughts, emotions, social aspects) and turns them into responses and desired actions (motor, verbal, behavior).
There are many terms used to describe Sensory Integration, most are now lumped under Sensory Processing. The following (but not limited to) involve a deregulation of the brains ability to take in information, process it and then take a particular desired action.
There are variations on how Sensory Processing Disorder shows up
How Can I Help
As we take tissue adhesion's and restrictions out of our body and nervous system, we can operate at a fuller and more connected capacity, this lessons symptoms and even changes function for the better.
Craniosacral Therapy can be very beneficial with:
• Improving neurological function and brain connectivity, balancing the brain hemespheres
• Reducing organ and nervous system inflammation
• Calming the mind
• Decreasing stress and anxiety that goes along with Sensory Processing Disorders
• Increasing the flow of neuron firing
• Integrating and modulating brain function
I have been doing this work for along time, and I am always amazed at the results we get with Craniosacral Therapy, and it is gentle and non-invasive.
I have experience in working with children of all ages, and I have a knack for working with children that have a hard time staying still, so please don't worry about bringing in a child that moves a lot, or doesn't like being touched. We will find a way to work together!
I enjoy being a part of a team in bringing some relief and calmness to families with a child or adult with Sensory Processing Disorder.
Once we get some of the restrictions out of your child's system (usually 1 - 3 treatments) then we find what maintenance schedule works best for them. It can be once a month, every couple of months or just as needed.
"Such a great experience working with Teresa! I took my 2 year old son to see her to help with some sensory challenges and after seeing her a few times he like a new kid! He is so much more redirect-able when it comes to toddler tantrums and is so much happier in his own skin. We have even been hearing new sounds and words from him which has been amazing to see. I highly recommend seeing her to help with any sensory needs!' Anna R.
"F.... really loves his sessions with you, whenever he tells people about it he says, Miss Teresa helps me relax!" Erin M.
"Thank you! Both my husband and I have noticed positive shifts (both physically and mentally) in our son from your sessions. And he is doing so much better with math, reading and his coordination" Cindy F.
"Our 4 year old son had always had "tics" but they had gotten much worse in the last few weeks, he bursts into yelling, blurts out offensive words and he has some jerky body movements. After a few sessions with Teresa, he is much better!" Sam. S. in Portland
"My toddler had been having extreme night terrors and poor sleep. Teresa helped calm her little body down so she now has really great night...and so do I !" P. A. Tigard
"Thank you Teresa, ever since we started seeing you, our daughter seems so much more comfortable in her own skin...it was hard to watch her struggle with new situations and making friends. She is much happier now." Karen T in Lake Oswego
"Teresa helped identify my daughter's low-tone issues, she gave us some great things to do at home and got us into the proper therapies along with her craniosacral therapy" Christina D.
